Making the cut

After my last update on my progress in the UK's Best Photographer 2009 competition, it looked like I had my work cut out for me... And to an extent I did. I'm not going to deny that I did put a fair bit of time, effort and planning into my entry for Round 4 of the elimination rounds; but I found myself in the strange position of having too many ideas and only 3 images to sum them all up. Eek.

Any photographer will tell you that they have huge patches with no inspiration, low creativity and nothing new to bring to the table; and I'm one of them. But for the first time in my photographic life (some 6 years now) I find myself with too many ideas and not enough excuses to do anything with them... Which actually made shooting three images for the last challenge a lot harder than I expected.

The result was a fairly diverse and mix-matched set of three images that I was incredibly unsure about. It's difficult deciding what's what when your brief is just two words long. But two evenings ago I received an email informing me that I'd made the cut, I was through to the round... The final final round of the UK's Best Photographer 2009, one of the last three people.

I'm still in slight disbelief, incredibly happy, nervous but above all thankful.

Peace.
